Happy Birthday Charlie, from Mammy.

15 years ago and I remember every minute just like it was yesterday

Watching all the other expectant Mothers going to delivery… me… still pacing almost 24 hours after medication, the pain, the no sleep, but at 635am my waters broke and it was time, time to meet our baby Charlie

This is when our lives would never be the same….. lives move on, people move on, but us… we are stuck… stuck in heartache that will never move on

I look at teenagers at the age of 15 and I drift for a few seconds, wondering what our big boy would be like..

Would he still have his blonde hair, I bet he would be fuming if there was still a curl, probably not very cool! Would he still have his cheeky personality?? Would he be a dancer? a footballer? … we will never know.

For two and a half years we were blessed with our angel we cherished every second, even the moments we have put to the back of our minds.

He was so brave, so strong, so cheeky and so loved. His cheeky belly laugh I still hear sometimes in my mind, his love of music, he sure had his favourites Donna Summer and of course “Your love is lifting me higher” They still make me smile when I hear them and take me straight back to dancing with him, moving his arms whilst his long legs would be kicking like crazy.

The good days, celebrating two special birthdays in true Cookie style, two Christmas’s even though they were spent on the ward.

He showed us what true love was and made me a Mammy, I will forever be grateful that he chose us, but I will forever be lost without them both.

We hope you are having the best day up there celebrating with your Granda’s and all our dearly missed loved ones, you will be being spoilt I am sure like you always were.
