Remembering Ben Hawkins

We financially support the parents who care 24/7 for their sick child who is suffering a life limiting condition, and we also financially support our CCF Families when their world collapses and they lose their sick child. At this point they lose the support they were in receipt of when their child was alive, their DLA, Carers Allowance and in some cases, they must move out of their adapted home.

With such a heavy heart we reveal that we have lost 33 of our CCF children who are now playing with our angels Charlie & Carter.

Our most recent angel being Ben Hawkins, who will always be in our hearts…

Kerry and Gordon Hawkins were CCF 30th family back in 2016, receiving the financial support of £3,000 to help pay their bills when their son was so poorly. Ben was born on February 2010 at 37 +2 weeks. He was born under emergency crash caesarean section and to their total despair was born not breathing. The doctors done all they could to help this little baby breath, eventually he started to breath on his own and was taken to neonatal intensive care where he was placed in therapeutic cooling.

Kerry and Gordon were praying that this therapy of reducing the body temperature right own would reduce or hopefully stop any brain damage. Ben also suffered severe jaundice and blood poisoning, he was very poorly and to this day the Doctor’s still say it is a miracle that he survived.

After only a short period of time Ben was admitted back into hospital where the door was opened to many investigations. Over the past 6 years these parents have suffered a great deal of heartache and worry, the waiting for results, the worry over blue light admissions.

In April 2017 the family moved into a purpose-built bungalow which gave Ben 7 and half years of comfort where the family cared for Ben with very little support around them.

On the 7th of November Ben’s family’s worst nightmare of losing their child came true Ben suffered a cardiac arrest while at home and sadly passed away in his family’s arms in hospital on the 13th of November 2025

After such a devastating loss the family were struggling to pay bills as they no longer received Bens financial support this was a great loss to the family and were struggling to buy food and essentials while grieving and still trying to care for their other two children. Kerry and Gordon reached out once again for support from The Charlie & Carter Foundation.

The team at CCF were devastated to hear of the passing of Ben and granted the family the bereavement fund of £1,000 this helped the family with much needed food vouchers and Electric when they needed it the most.

The family were so grateful for the support, it was a huge weight lifted off their shoulders. They wanted us to pass on their most sincere gratitude to all our supporters and our CCF team for all your efforts and kindness. Without all of you we could not help these families who are heartbroken and suffering the most devastating loss …still expecting to continue to live on…in their day to day lives.

We are forever grateful xXxX
